BluePrint Automation Delivers Sustainable and Future-Proof Facility in Woerden

WOERDEN – September 27, 2024. Today, BluePrint Automation (BPA) officially delivered its new sustainable facility located at Carrosserieweg 2 in Woerden. Designed by HD Architecten, this building represents BPA’s vision for the future, emphasizing innovation and sustainability. The new facility will provide a healthy and inspiring workspace for employees and will also be a valuable asset to the local community and surrounding area.

A Sustainable Choice

“Our people make BluePrint, and they deserve an exceptional working environment in every way. That includes a building that feels right,” says Martin Prakken, owner of BluePrint Automation. “We have also made every effort to create a facility that is as attractive as possible for local residents and as ecologically responsible as possible.”

The building is unique in its design and scale within the Netherlands: the primary structural frame and facades are entirely made of wood. This wooden construction results in a significant reduction in harmful emissions. The facility stores approximately 655 tons of CO2, equivalent to the emissions from 5.5 million kilometers driven by a mid-sized car or the annual electricity consumption of 727 households. In addition to using (reusable) wood, the entire roof is covered with 1,462 solar panels, and BPA has invested in 1 megawatt-hour of battery storage. “I believe we can all be genuinely proud of what has been achieved here,” Prakken continues.

Healthy Work Environment

BPA employees can expect a pleasant and healthy working environment in the new building. “From the start, our priority was to create a workspace where people feel good,” says Dick van Weenen, who oversaw the entire construction on behalf of BPA. “The combination of natural materials, abundant daylight, and sustainable cooling makes this building a model of a healthy workplace.”

The use of adiabatic cooling ensures the indoor climate is regulated sustainably, without the use of environmentally harmful refrigerants. Ample natural light and fresh air create a pleasant working environment, with a special focus on employee well-being.

Local Collaboration and Involvement

BPA places great importance on collaborating with local entrepreneurs and businesses. The new facility was built with the help of contractors and specialists from the region. “We are proud of the long-term relationships we’ve built with local companies,” says Prakken. “It not only strengthens our project but also supports the local economy.”

An Asset to Woerden

BPA’s new facility aligns seamlessly with the sustainability goals of the municipality of Woerden. Special attention has been paid to creating a visually appealing and environmentally friendly facade that blends with the surrounding residential area. The facades are clad in eco-friendly fraké wood and include green facades that support local biodiversity by fostering bio-organisms, which also help prevent the building from overheating. Trees will also be planted around the facility to further enhance its natural appearance. All of this makes the building a true eye-catcher, without disrupting the environment.

Future-Proof

In addition to its sustainable design, the building is also flexible, keeping the future in mind. It can easily be divided into multiple units, making it multifunctional and future-proof. “With this facility, we’ve not only met current needs but also created space for future growth,” says Martin Prakken.
